Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has said he will not renounce his political history in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for any coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Instead, the ex-governor said he will support any political party that will serve as a unifying factor for the country.
The PDP chieftain stated this in his Kano office, while chatting with journalists.
He said that despite the current challenges bedeviling the party, he will remain in it because in it he was harassed, detained, became a two-term governor, and a minister, among others.
“I remain PDP, even though PDP has some problems. I’m PDP. Because I can walk out of my skin and crawl in flesh and blood, to be conferred with a smaller skin, called ADC.
“I was detained, harassed, and blackmailed. My office was burnt, and my house was about to be burnt. My friends, my family, were humiliated, were maligned. All for PDP.
“Therefore, it also made me a minister and a governor. So, I can simply renounce my history, my legacy, my heritage, and go into something new.
“I will not do that. But certainly, I’m also willing to go, I’m willing to work for any arrangement within the PDP, or as a PDP, for a secure Nigeria in 2027,” he stated.

On the proposed creation of new states in the country, the former governor said the desire and agitations are legitimate but that they must be anchored by the process and the procedure on some real issues facing the nation, such as poverty, economic situation, insecurity, hunger, and division.
He highlighted the importance of tackling the above challenges rather than creating more states.
