Ferran Torres has said he rejected the advances of Spanish football giant Real Madrid on several occasions to finally join Xavi Hernandez in Barcelona.
The former Manchester City forward, who moved to Camp Nou in this year’s winter transfer window, is overwhelmed by the proposed move by Barcelona for Bayern Munich top-nine, Robert Lewandowski.
Ferran, satisfied with the club’s activities to bolster the squad ahead of next season’s campaign, admitted Lewandowski will be a great addition to the squad. The Trumpet Gathered
“The fact that Robert Lewandowski is motivated to come to Barcelona is a source of pride. I hope he reaches an agreement and can come”, Ferran Torres said to Cadena COPE’s El Partidazo.
“Joining Barcelona is already a huge thing, but to be called by Xavi Hernandez, with what a great player he has been, was decisive.
“He told me his ideas, his desire and I did everything I could to come to Barcelona,” Ferran revealed Xavi’s influence lured him to Catalans.
However, Ferran admitted his season has been hampered by injury after leaving Etihad Stadium for Camp Nou.
“It has been a difficult year because I had to leave [Manchester City], I had a serious injury and I arrived at Barcelona with a lot of hope,” Ferran said.
“We turned things around a bit and qualified for the Champions League and the Supercopa de Espana, but we didn’t finish [the season] in the best way”.

“I knew where I was coming from, that the club was in a complicated period and that we had to do our best to qualify for the Champions League because otherwise, it would have been a failure, and we achieved our objective.
“Now we have to think about next season and try to win titles, Ferran added.
The undeterred forward, who has been taunted by fans for his inability to score more goals for Xavi, is determined and focused of prove himself in Barcelona.
“I have not been overwhelmed,” he said.
“I was very calm. I’m a winger, not a striker, but I have the ability to score and when I can I also have to give assists.
“I’m proud that I’ve given the team more beyond scoring goals. I’m an ambitious player and when I fail I want to learn,” he insisted.
