Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara on Friday declared himself the number one member of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) in the state.
The governor stated this while intimating the crowd which thronged the venue for the flag-off of the bypass–to–Airport and Toll Gate project and the commissioning of the newly completed Ikwerre–Igwuruta–Airport Road of what earlier transpired at the Government House before coming for the function.
The governor told the crowd that he had obtained his membership card as a full fledged member of the APC.
Gov. Fubara said he not only obtained the membership card, but his card number is 001. “So I am now the number one APC member in Rivers State”, he declared.

At the brief ceremony earlier, state Chairman of APC, Tony Okocha presented the membership forms and card of APC to the governor at the Government House.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festis Keyamo and other associates of the governor
Gov. Fubara had on Tuesday announced his defection to the APCl after a private meeting with President Tinubu at the Aso Villa, Abuja.
He predicated his defection on the support the president provided during the heat of the Rivers crisis and urged the people to join him to ensure the reelection of the president in 2027.
