Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said maybe he is not good enough to help the club win European clubs’ most coveted trophy, UEFA Champions League, insisting that a new manager could do the magic.
Guardiola lamented after the stunning second-half display by Real Madrid to dump the Manchester club out of their second consecutive final.
However, he stated that the club owner, Sheikh Mansour, did not invest in the club to win the champions league alone but to ensure the club is successful in all competitions.
City are in search of their first European success and had invested in bringing in players to boost their chances of getting it and also Pep
Guardiola from Bayern Munich to steer the vision but the trophy has been elusive.
Guardiola, who last tasted the European success in 2011 with Barcelona, defended the crop of players in City stating that they are good enough to win the UEFA Champions League.
“The owners didn’t buy this club and invest in these incredible facilities just to win the Champions League, they did it to be there in all competitions, every season,” Guardiola to Sky Sports.
“We want to win the Champions League, maybe I am not good enough to help the team to do it. Nobody knows what would happen with another manager and other players.

“The people say if this group of players or Guardiola don’t win a title, then they’re failures, I completely disagree. We know how difficult everything is.
“No, I am always starving. I cannot spend a year just thinking about how happy I am. If we had won the Champions League it would be the money we spend, not how hard we worked.
“The players don’t realise now but it’s [losing] a gift for us. I’d love to win the Champions League and be in the final but we have to be better from what happened in Madrid,” He added.
Guardiola turns his attention to the Premier League title pursuit ahead of Liverpool which tackle Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League finals on their trail to leapfrog them to the title.
