The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has predicted a major turnaround for Nigeria in 2026, declaring that hunger across the country will reduce and the popular “japa” trend, which has seen thousands of Nigerians leave in search of greener pastures, will begin to reverse.
Pastor Adeboye made the declaration in a video message that has since gone viral on social media, stirring widespread discussion and renewed optimism among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. In the message, the respected cleric described 2026 as a turning point, saying economic pressure would begin to ease and living conditions would improve.
According to him, the hardship many Nigerians currently face, especially in relation to food scarcity and rising living costs, will gradually give way to relief. He said hunger in the land will decrease, a development many citizens see as one of the most urgent needs in the country.
The RCCG leader also addressed the wave of emigration popularly known as “japa,” where professionals and young Nigerians leave the country for better opportunities abroad. He predicted that the trend would slow down and eventually reverse, with many Nigerians abroad finding reasons to return home.
“There will be a decrease in hunger in Nigeria in 2026, and the trend of ‘japa’ will reverse. Those who have left will return,” Pastor Adeboye said, adding that he would share further details of the message when permitted.

His words suggest that opportunities, stability, and overall conditions in the country would improve enough to attract citizens back from overseas. For many Nigerians struggling with high food prices, unemployment, and economic uncertainty, the message arrived at a moment of deep frustration and longing for change.
Reactions to the prophecy have flooded social media, with many users expressing hope and cautious faith. Some described the message as comforting in the face of daily hardship, while others said a reduction in hunger alone would mark a significant breakthrough for the nation.
Whether viewed as a prophetic declaration, an expression of faith, or a symbol of national hope, Pastor Adeboye’s message has clearly resonated with millions. As Nigeria steps into 2026 amid economic reforms and shifting realities, many will be watching closely to see how the year unfolds in light of his words.
