The Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eugene Cheta on Sunday allegedly led thugs to assault a lady, Winnie Miller for posting video of a dilapidated secondary school in her community.
Our correspondent learnt that the lady who hails from Odiokwu in Ahoada West visited the Community Secondary School at Odiokwu Town, took pictures of the dilapidated buildings and made videos which she posted online, drawning the attention of government at all levels and good-spirited individauls to the deplorable state of the school
She reportedly drew the attention of Cheta, who also hails from the same community to the deplorable state of the institution.

However, instead of renovating the school or calling the attention of the state government to the school, the local government chairman led his brothers and his security guards to the home of the lady on Sunday, March 1, 2026, and physically assaulted her.
It was further gathered that the member representing Awelga/Onelga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Obuzor Victor is also from Odiokwu, same as the local government chairman, yet the only secondary school in the village is in a sorry state.
