League Management Company (LMC), organisers of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), have sanctioned Shooting Stars of Ibadan (3SC) and Remo Stars for breaching some sections of the statute that regulates the nation’s topflight football division.

LMC said this on Friday, June 3, 2022, after concluding an investigation into what transpired in the home ground of 3SC, Lekan Salami Stadium, where Remo Stars were held to a one-all-draw.

According to LMC, 3SC breached Rule B13.52 for failing to provide and ensure effective security, leading to a breakdown of order after the match. The Trumpet Gathered

Also breaching Rule B8.21, LMC stressed that before, during and after the match, 3SC failed to provide adequate security for match officials which resulted in the harassment and intimidation of the Referee.

Furthermore, LMC carpeted Shooting Stars for breaching Rule C1.1 after the Ibadan-based club failed to curtail and control their fans at the match-end and this resulted in unruly occurrences that led to the attacking of Media Personnel, Adepoju Tobi.

In its resolutions, LMC have placed a ban on 3SC fans from the stadium in all the remaining matches left for the season and if they do otherwise, the club will be scheduled to play their remaining matches outside the Southwest.

LMC fined the club the sum of N3,000,000 and an extra N500,000 to Adepoju to cater for his medical bills and missing valuables.

However, the NPFL organisers added that 3SC are on propagation to risk of two points deduction until season’s end, while the Media Officer, Tosin Omojola and Kits Manager, Mr Majolagbe Kolawale have been expelled from all NPFL related activities for a minimum period of 12 months in the first instance.

Meanwhile, the LMC have fined Remo Stars N2m for breaches of Rule 13.18, B8.21 in the course of their MatchDay 30 fixture in Ikenne against Kano Pillars.

According to the League body, it found that some unidentified persons encroached on the restricted area and harassed Match Officials, an act that breached Rule 13.18 for failure to provide adequate security before, during and after the match. This resulted in the harassment and intimidation of the Match Officials

Following the above, LMC fined Remo Stars N1m for each of the breaches and closed the stadium to fans for their next two home matches. They have also been placed on probation for the rest of the season which could incur a two-point deduction.

The Trumpet reports that 3SC were also charged for breach of the peace agreement brokered by the LMC between the two clubs regarding peace, order and fair play during matches between the two.
