Delta South Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of using foreign currencies in buying votes during the latter’s just concluded primary elections in the country.
He spoke immediately after he was affirmed as the consensus candidate by delegates of the APC in Delta South Senatorial District at Oleh Civic Centre, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state. He was affirmed with 285 votes while 75 ballots were void as 360 delegates were accredited.
The result was declared by returning Officer, Mrs Nkechi Anukan. According to him: “The former President Goodluck Jonathan said in a viral video that what is happening in the country today is that the delegates who are electing people who will represent them are not well informed.
“Like I heard, what is happening in PDP, people are spending huge amount of money in dollars to get their names on the ballot.
Once you collect money to vote who will represent you on the ballot they cannot really represent you well effectively. “The consequences is that those who ought not to represent you will represent you in the ballot. And that is chaotic, you can’t get any good thing out of it.”
On his programme, Thomas said that as somebody with wide experience in private and public service, he will work assiduously with his colleagues in the National Assembly to ensure the primary healthcare situation in the country is addressed ss in a more dynamic way.
He noted that most of the health challenges in Nigeria killing people are not sicknesses ss that should take them out of the country. He noted that they are little sicknesses s like High Blood Pressure and Malaria, assuring that with his colleagues in the National Assembly they will find a sustainable way out.
