Chairman of the disbanded Ughelli North Public Motor Parks Revenue Committee, Mr. Gowon Egoide, has detailed how he allegedly remitted N350,000 monthly to the Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman, Jaro Egbo.
However, he expressed regret that despite collecting the monthly amount from him on behalf of the revenue committee, the council boss still dissolved the committee for political reasons.
Speaking to journalists at Uduere Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Egoide, described the dissolution of the public motor parks revenue committee as a calculated act of vendetta, revealing that he had complied fully with the council’s financial requirements and had also been paying the council chairman N350,000 monthly on his instruction.
“Even his instruction for me to pay him personally the sum of N350,000 every month, I have also been paying him without fail.
“So, I wonder why he is saying that the committee was dissolved because I failed to pay into the council treasury. I am not owing the council a dime, and all receipts are intact,” Egoide declared.
He alleged that the real motive behind the dissolution was his refusal to support Egbo’s bid to impose a preferred candidate on the Uduere youth leadership election.
Egoide insisted that the decision was aimed at coercing him into influencing the elders of the Eyavbie Quarter, who had resisted Egbo’s attempt to override the established rotational leadership system.
“Jaro wants to impose his choice on the Eyavbie Quarter, even after already securing the secretary position for his brother from Abovbe.

“I have refused to be used to influence the elders of Eyavbie to support him, and this is the real reason behind the dissolution,” he emphasized.
He further criticized Egbo for showing ingratitude despite his past loyalty and support, including during the 2023 elections.
“Even when my hotel was burnt and my children were arrested, Jaro Egbo did nothing for me. But I stood by him when his property was attacked in Asaba,” he added.
Egoide called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to intervene by cautioning the council chairman against misusing his office for personal interests.
Supporting Egoide’s account, a youth leader in the community on condition of anonymity, explained that the conflict was rooted in the rotational structure of the youth leadership, shared among the three quarters of Abovbe, Achogho, and Eyavbie.
A reliable source also confirmed that the dissolution of the motor parks committee had little to do with financial remittances, but more with local political maneuvering.
