The minister who revealed this at the grand civic reception organized in his honour by the Kalabari ethnic nationality at Abalama in Asari Toru Local Government Area on Saturday, said that the governor had nominated the then Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu in his stead.
He further disclosed that one.of the persons who is now “running after the governor”, Celestine Omehia, also argued that Gov. Fubara would not be able to handle the responsibility.
The minister said at the end of the day, the voices of elders prevailed who argued in favor of Gov. Fubara, and threw their weight behind his candidacy.
The minister regretted that Gov. Fubara failed to keep faith with those who fought for him to be governor, and instead he embraced “aliens” who have kept misguiding him.

“I don’t want to be governor. All I want is whatever is legal to be legal. We will continue to fight constitutionally and uphold the rule of law’ he maintained.
The minister used the occasion to dismiss the impression that he is anti- Ijaw, saying that Ijaw people are not evil people, and should never be associated with evil
He said his grouse with Gov. Fubara is that he is an ingrate, which has nothing to do with the Ijaw as a people.
Wike thanked the people for honouring him, and pledged to continue to stand by the Kalabari, and Ijaw people as a whole.
The occasion attracted a mammoth crowd from across the state, who defied the earlier scare about security at the venue to witness the event.
All the pro-Wike assembly members, National Assembly members, and politicians of note from the state attended the ceremony.
