The Gombe State Police command, on Friday, paraded a housewife, who was alleged to have killed her husband.
The housewife who was identified as Biba Mohammed, was alleged to have murdered her husband with a pestle, in Barunde quarters in Gombe, the state capital.
Parading the suspects before media practitioners, in the state command headquarters, state Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the police received a distress call from a resident of the area who reported a suspected homicide case committed in his neighbourhood.
Police detectives from the Lowcost Division, according to him, were immediately dispatched to the scene where they discovered that the husband of the suspect was lying in his pool of blood.
Upon interrogation, the housewife was said to have confessed to have committed the crime.

Identifying the victim as Mohammed Maliki, the police spokesperson said “The victim was immediately rushed to a specialist hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.”
Following a preliminary investigation, the wife of the deceased, according to the PPRO, was taken into custody after confessing to the crime, stating that “In her statement, she admitted to using a pestle to strike his head”.
Adding that “the case is currently under investigation at SCID and will be presented in court for prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
At the time of filing this report, both the police and the victim’s neighbours could not explain what must have necessitated the suspect’s action.
