Houses were razed and more than 50 cattle lost to a fire incident that occurred at Danzago Village in the Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
Spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif, in a statement said the incident happened on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at about 10:48 am.
He said fire service office at Danbatta, received an emergency call for assistance from Abdurashid Sha’aibu, who came to the office and reported the fire outbreak.
Yusuf said on arrival at the scene at 11:22 am, a building consisting of 17 rooms and a store was engulfed in flames, resulting in the death of two cows, 36 sheep, 17 goats, 10 chickens and 19 local food storage huts.

He added that the fire spread into another building, destroying one local food storage hut, while eight sheep and three goats were also consumed by the inferno.
The spokesman however, noted that the service successfully rescued two sheep, four cows and three local storage huts as well as prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
He disclosed that a fire serviceman sustained burns, while battling the fire, adding that the cause of the fire incident is under investigation.
