In a recent visit to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes, Rep. Ginger Onwusibe, commended the EFCC’s budget implementation and its impact on Nigeria’s anti-corruption drive.
Expressing satisfaction, Rep. Onwusibe stated, “The Committee is impressed with what it has seen. We are committed to supporting the EFCC to continue its crucial fight against corruption and financial crime.” He assured that the National Assembly would work to secure increased funding for the EFCC in the 2025 budget to bolster its efforts.

Rep. Onwusibe praised EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoye and his team for their dedication and uncompromising stance against corruption. “The courage to pursue financial criminals without favoritism or nepotism is commendable,” he noted. “When individuals misuse public funds, they must face the consequences – there’s no digesting what cannot be digested,” he added, underscoring the EFCC’s resolve to hold offenders accountable.
Chairman Olukoye highlighted the agency’s achievements over the past year, revealing impressive recoveries of illicit funds. “Since October last year, we have recovered approximately N250 billion in cash, alongside tens of millions in U.S. dollars, pounds sterling, and other currencies,” he announced. Olukoye emphasized that the EFCC’s core mandate goes beyond prosecution, aiming to create a more transparent and thriving Nigerian economy.
