The Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas, and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCON) has lauded the appointment of Senator Ned Nwoko as Chairman of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft, describing it as a groundbreaking decision capable of transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The group commended the leadership of the 10th Senate, under Senate President Godswill Akpabio, for entrusting the critical assignment to the Delta North Senator, whom they described as a “round peg in a round hole.”
In a statement issued via electronic mail, HOSTCON National President, Comrade Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, expressed confidence that Senator Nwoko’s appointment would usher in a new era of transparency and accountability in the fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal bunkering activities in the Niger Delta region.
According to HOSTCON, Senator Nwoko’s track record as an international criminal lawyer and his deep knowledge of the Niger Delta terrain make him the perfect candidate to lead the committee’s fight against oil saboteurs. The group affirmed that the senator’s appointment signals the end of business as usual for both local and international oil thieves.

“Senator Ned Nwoko is a master strategist who understands the modus operandi of these economic saboteurs,” the statement read. “His underground strategies will take these thieves by storm, and within 100 days, Nigerians will witness a remarkable transformation in the oil and gas sector.”
HOSTCON highlighted the senator’s proactive approach, including his recent courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to seek military collaboration in tackling crude oil theft. The group also praised his swift inauguration of a surveillance team to conduct overt and covert operations on oil facilities across the region.
The youth council further commended the committee’s call for enhanced intelligence-sharing mechanisms, inter-agency collaboration, and the deployment of cutting-edge security technologies to dismantle the sophisticated networks behind crude oil theft.
“Senator Ned Nwoko is not just protecting national revenue; he is securing the future of the nation’s economy,” HOSTCON declared. “His unwavering patriotism and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have already started yielding results, with life-changing motions and bills sponsored on the Senate floor.”
The group pledged its full support to the senator and the committee, vowing to collaborate closely in salvaging the nation’s oil and gas sector from the grip of economic saboteurs.
“As the heartbeat of the oil-producing communities, HOSTCON Youth Council is ready to partner with the 10th Senate to restore sanity and prosperity to the oil and gas sector,” the statement concluded.
