The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a man and his girlfriend for allegedly solemnizing their marriage without parental consent at Banana Restaurant on Zoo Road, Kano.
The board’s Deputy Commander General of Operations, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, who confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stated that Hisbah personnel raided the venue on Wednesday night following a tip-off.
Abubakar explained that the marriage was conducted by the groom’s friends without fulfilling the necessary Islamic requirements, making it invalid under Shari’a law.
