The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has welcomed a high-powered delegation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, led by its Country Vice President and National President, Mrs. Eliana Martins. The courtesy visit, held at the Office of the Head of Service in Abuja, marked a renewed commitment to gender equity, legal empowerment, and the protection of women and children’s rights in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Service, Eno Olotu, Mrs. Walson-Jack, a committed and active member of FIDA, lauded the organization for its unwavering pursuit of justice and gender parity. She described FIDA as a “formidable force” in the non-governmental landscape, noting its consistent advocacy for the voiceless and marginalized. She emphasized the need for deeper collaboration between legal professionals and public institutions to achieve shared goals for national development.

Encouraging FIDA Nigeria to expand its presence across all states of the federation, the HCSF urged the association to strengthen its grassroots structures and foster a more robust network of female legal practitioners nationwide. According to her, such a strategic move would further amplify the organization’s mission and unlock new avenues for social impact.

The highlight of the visit came when Mrs. Walson-Jack congratulated Nigerian legal icon and FIDA stalwart, Mrs. Ezinwa Okaroafor, on her recent elevation as the International President of FIDA, the first Nigerian in recent times to hold this prestigious global office. Hailing the appointment as a powerful testament to excellence, she described Mrs. Okaroafor as a beacon of dedication and resilience whose rise reflects the growing influence of Nigerian women on the world stage.

In response, FIDA Nigeria’s President, Mrs. Eliana Martins, commended the HCSF for her trailblazing leadership and tireless efforts in reforming the civil service. She described Mrs. Walson-Jack as “a worthy and great Amazon who stands tall for women,” praising her for steering transformative policies that continue to uplift women nationwide. Martins also pledged FIDA’s unwavering support in helping the Office of the Head of Service achieve its mandate through strategic partnerships and legal interventions.

Dignitaries present at the event included top federal government officials such as Permanent Secretaries from the OHCSF, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Beatrice Jeddy-Agba, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Civil Service Matters, Mr. Alfred Abah..
