Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have kidnapped nine persons, including four housewives and five others at Shema quarters, in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident which occurred at about 11:30 pm on Sunday, happened when the gunmen stormed the area during a heavy downpour.
Sources said the gunmen stormed the area in their numbers riding on motorcycles, and were armed with sophisticated weapons.
One of the sources said the gunmen shot sporadically to register their presence before processing to two houses where most of the victims resided.
He said that the gunmen first went to the home of one Usman Abdullahi where they kidnapped his two wives and two other people living in the house.
He added that they then went to the home of another victim, one Abdulraziz Lawal where they also abducted his two wives and two other family members.

He said the victims were whisked away into the forest, but that both Abdullahi and Lawal managed to escape before the gunmen could carry out their nefarious operation.
“The terrorists attacked Shema quarters in large numbers around 11:30 pm yesterday and abducted nine persons during a heavy downpour.
“They broke into the house of one Usman Abdullahi and kidnapped his two wives and three other family members.
“They then moved to the house of one Abdulraziz Lawal and abducted his two wives and two other relatives.”
The spokesperson for the police command in the state, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday.
Isah said that Armoured Personnel Carrier APC vehicles and some police officers were drafted to the crime scene where there was exchange of gunfire with the gunmen.
