The Ann Jonathan Obuebite Engineering Scholars (AJOES) programme, in collaboration with the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Bayelsa State chapter, have announced scholarship awards to the top three female engineering undergraduate students from the Niger Delta University(NDU), Bayelsa State.
The scholarship award is part of the highlights of the inauguration of APWEN’s 4th Chairman, Mrs. Amalate Obuebite taking place in Yenagoa.
A statement issued on Friday, by Mrs. Obuebite, the recipients, who are in their 400 levels at the university, were recognized for their academic excellence.

The recipients include, Esther Ayebatari, with a CGPA of 4.75, received a scholarship of ₦120, 000; Zidougha Ukiemoyemi, with a CGPA of 4.44, received a scholarship of ₦110, 000, while Suoyo Ogiori, with a CGPA of 4.27, received a scholarship of ₦100, 000.
The initiative according to the statement is aimed at promoting and supporting the academic pursuits of female engineering students to excel in their fields.
The event also featured an inaugural lecture in honour of Nigeria’s first female professor of mechanical engineering, which was presided over by the President of APWEN, Dr. Adebisi Osim
The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudkakpor, was also honored by the association with APMAN of the Year award.
