National President of a political group known as Volunteers for Democracy, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, has called on Nigerians who have attained the voting age to register and obtain their voter cards in the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise in order to participate in the 2027 general elections.
Usman made the call in Kano while addressing a state executive committee meeting held at the Sani Abacha Youth Center.
He explained that obtaining a voter’s card, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is important because it serves as a yardstick for election participation and entrenching democracy at all levels.
“We therefore urge all and sundry, particularly those within the voting age limit, to please come out to their nearest card issuing centers to obtain the voter card within the stipulated time frame,” he noted.
Usman, who was a former secretary to the Kano State government, also urged members of the public to shun the coalition movement being formed by those he termed “confused politicians”.

He cautioned members of the group, advising them to avoid members of the opposition parties who keep moving from one party to the other in the name of coalition, noting that those people are afraid of the APC’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The leader of the group also added that the group is committed to informing and educating members of the public toward improving engagement between leaders and the led, as well as assessing the performance of the NNPP-led state government to keep it on its toes to be responsive and accountable in line with constitutional provisions.
