The Motorcycle Mechanic Spare Parts Dealers and Allied Workers Association, MMSPDAWA Ebonyi State, have lauded the Senate Deputy Chief Whip for constructing about 2.5km road in the Abakaliki metropolitan area.

The dilapidated road which was impassable for many years in a rigid concrete pavement in less than two years in office.

The State Chairman of the Association, Chief Ogbuefi Nwabueze Awoke Samson, who made the commendation, explained that the road links the machine site junction to the Dandilla Gas Station connecting Abakaliki -Enugu Expressway.

Awoke, also the President of the Izhi Traders Forum in Ebonyi State, further commended Senator Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, for mounting street lights on the road after being constructed with his other infrastructural projects waiting for commissioning in his constituency.

He described Senator Nwebonyi as an effective leader who had shown capacity in various positions he occupied, especially in the Senate, and prayed to God to elevate him more for the service to humanity.

“I got to know from someone that Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has promised to construct the road in a concrete pavement. Then, I quickly went to his house to at least appreciate him for that pledge. It didn’t reach up to two weeks before the Senator came and started the work on the road.

“As I’m talking to you, the road now is motorable. In fact, I don’t know how to thank the Senator for the gesture because that road was impassable for over 8 years. Nobody could cross that road then, but now it’s motorable with the street lights mounted along it.

“So I want to sincerely thank him for the good work he is doing in his constituency. Nwebonyi is a senator today but we are praying for him to become the president because of his good work. I’m very happy because he’s making Ebonyi people proud, he’s representing us very well. He is a vibrant leader, and I’m praying for God’s protection in his life.

“He has put street lights on the road to the extent that if something falls on the road in the night time, you can easily pick it up,” the chairman said.

Awoke disclosed that he has started putting solar-powered lights inside the machine site, laterited some internal roads and ensured steady security in the area as a way of complimenting Senator Nwebonyi’s gesture and Governor Francis Nwifuru-led administration in the state.

He noted that the new development in the machine site increased patronage for the mechanics and motorcycle parts dealers since the road became passable.

He commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for his giant drive in human capacity building and infrastructural development in Ebonyi, especially in the rural communities in the state.

He, however, appealed to the state government, other spirited individuals and organizations to assist the association by building toilet facilities and a town hall in the site and involving its members in empowerment programmes to boost their businesses.

He noted that currently, the machine site has a borehole, but there’s no electricity to power it after the breakdown of the transformer in the area a few months past.

The Chairman recalled his financial commitment and other contributions he made alongside the members of the association to ensure successful victory for the current state governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, and other elective persons from the state during the 2023 general elections, and assured unwavering support for them while addressing the people’s plights in their various offices.
