Founder of Enovate Laboratory, Mr. Ahmed Idris, in a statement made available to journalists noted that the agreement was signed on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the university.
He said the initiative represents a major step towards strengthening innovation in higher institution in the north.
He described the initiative as a platform that will nurture ideas and transform student research into viable products.
“Today, marks a defining moment for student innovation in Nigeria. The BUK–Fikira Lab is not just a space—it is a promise to give students the tools and support they need to build solutions that can compete globally,” Idris said.

Representing the vice chancellor, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Research and Training, Prof. Ado Kofar Mata, said the collaboration aligns with BUK’s vision for innovation and development.
He noted that the lab will create new opportunities for research utilisation, hands-on learning and youth-driven problem-solving.
He commended the group for its investment in building an enabling environment for students, adding that the university is committed to supporting the project to ensure its sustainability.
