A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed on Mangu local government council of Plateau state.

The curfew, as noticed by The Trumpet, is coming following the attacks on Fungzai and Kubwat communities by suspected Fulani militia bandits on Tuesday night.

In a statement on Wednesday made available to media practitioners in the state by the Council Chairman, Minister Daput said the curfew was agreed on after consultations with security heads.

He said the actionis geared at restoring law and order in the affected communities as well as avoiding the situation from spilling over to nearby communities.

Despite the curfew, palpable tensions, as noticed by our state correspondent, have continued to be on the increase in the affected communities following the numbers of those who were alleged to have been killed.

Apart from the death tolls, several numbers of persons, especially women and children, were alleged to have as well been missing.

Some persons from the communities who bared their minds to The Trumpet, said the suspected Fulani militias, took the communities unaware, the action which according to them, led to wanton killings and destruction of property.

Recounting the ordeals of his people in the hands of the attackers, a community leader, who gave his name as ,Dan Mangu, said “We received a distress call that herders have invaded two villages of Kubwat and Fungzai and massacre many people and burnt down their villages.

“We are yet to ascertain the number of deaths, as I speak, I can see herders moving their cows as fast as possible from the attacked village towards Bauchi side.

“We are yet to ascertain the number of deaths, but, reports have it that they have burnt down the entire village and about five corpses have been brought Mangu.”

Aligning their weights to that of the community leader, other persons who spoke with The Trumpet, beckoned at both the state and federal government to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the affected victims.

What the victims are presently in dire need of, as made known by them, are shelters and foods as majority of them were said to have been sacked from their homes.

Efforts to reach the police spokesperson proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
