Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has approved a far reaching welfare package for the grieving father of a woman and her six children who were brutally killed in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano, while also ordering the immediate and speedy prosecution of suspects linked to the crime.
The governor’s approval includes sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house, and full welfare support to help the bereaved father rebuild his life. The decision was made public in a statement issued on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, after the governor paid a condolence visit to the family.
During the visit, Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the tragic killings and assured the bereaved father that the state government would stand by him through the difficult period. He directed that a new and befitting house be provided and pledged continuous welfare assistance, including support should the man choose to remarry in the future.
On the matter of justice, the governor issued a firm directive to the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast track the prosecution of suspects already arrested in connection with the killings. He assured residents that the government would not shield anyone involved, stressing that all those found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
Governor Yusuf further declared that he would not hesitate to sign the death warrant for any person convicted in the Chiranci Dorayi murder case once the courts conclude their work. He added that the same resolve would apply to convicts in the Hanifa murder case and the Gezawa arson incident, as soon as judicial processes are completed.

The governor commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and other security agencies for their swift action and effective collaboration that led to the arrest of the suspects. He described their response as reassuring at a time of public outrage and grief.
In a gesture of appreciation, the bereaved father donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school to serve the local community, a move the governor described as noble and selfless despite the family’s loss.
In a related development, Governor Yusuf also paid condolence visits to the family of the late Dr Bature AbdulAziz and to Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board, following the death of his mother.
