Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has promised a sweeping wave of infrastructure projects across the state, assuring citizens that construction will kick off immediately after the rainy season. The governor made this declaration at the close of his three-day “statewide listening tour,” a historic grassroots engagement designed to hear directly from the people.

Beginning in Wukari and moving through Bali and other key communities, the tour drew thousands of residents, traditional rulers, lawmakers, and stakeholders eager to voice their concerns. At a town hall meeting in Wukari’s TY Danjuma House, Governor Kefas emphasized that his administration is committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.

The Paramount Ruler of Kwararafa Kingdom, HRM Manu Adda Ali, called for the creation of a direct market system to link farmers with the state, particularly yam and agro-produce sellers. He noted this would stabilize prices, protect farmers from rising input costs, and boost profits. Responding, Governor Kefas pledged immediate action, assuring that his government would work on direct market access while providing subsidies for farm chemicals.

He reminded participants that his administration had already delivered on major reforms, including making education free and compulsory, constructing new classrooms, and upgrading healthcare facilities. “We have developed a comprehensive master plan that will guide development in every sector of Taraba State. Our focus remains on building road networks, empowering young people, and raising the living standards of our citizens,” he said.

In Bali, residents highlighted poor road conditions, unstable electricity, and inadequate healthcare services as their biggest challenges. Governor Kefas promised them visible change, stressing that work will begin in earnest once the rains subside. “We face many challenges and our resources are limited, but with patience and unity, Taraba will see real progress. Development will reach every corner of this state,” he assured.

The governor.said his tour has not only set a new tone for citizen participation in governance but also raised expectations of an unprecedented development drive across Taraba. With road networks, healthcare, education, and agriculture at the top of his agenda, Dr. Agbu Kefas is positioning his administration as one that listens, responds, and delivers.
