Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Tuesday presented a ₦1.39 trillion Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, describing it as “The People’s Budget of Expansion and Growth.” He said the proposal is designed to consolidate ongoing development efforts and accelerate progress across the state.
Addressing lawmakers during the presentation, Governor Eno explained that the 2026 budget targets key elements of the ARISE Agenda, including strengthening food security, enhancing rural development, completing major ongoing projects, and initiating new critical interventions aimed at job creation.
According to him, the budget also prioritizes internal security, improved access and quality in education, economic diversification, support for MSMEs, and increased investments in human capital and social inclusion.
Unveiling the fiscal framework, the governor proposed a 75% capital expenditure and 25% recurrent expenditure ratio, which he said is crucial for sustaining growth. He announced that ₦387.5 billion has been earmarked for roads and major infrastructure, while substantial allocations have been provided for education, health, small businesses, and strategic initiatives across the three senatorial districts. The revenue projection for 2026 stands at ₦1.146 trillion.

Governor Eno urged the Assembly to expedite its consideration of the budget, expressing confidence that the ARISE Agenda will continue to yield measurable improvements in the state. He highlighted achievements recorded over the past two and a half years and called on citizens to remain united in driving collective progress in the “Land of Promise.”
In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, described the annual budget presentation as a cornerstone of democratic governance. He commended the impact of the ARISE Agenda, noting that it has brought relief and renewed confidence to the people.
The House Leader, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob, who delivered a vote of thanks, lauded the governor for presenting what he termed a visionary and growth-oriented fiscal proposal. He praised the strong capital expenditure focus and assured that the legislature will conduct a prompt and thorough review to ensure the budget’s timely passage in the interest of Akwa Ibom residents.
