Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Tuesday presented a ₦1.39 trillion Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, describing it as “The People’s Budget of Expansion and Growth.” He said the proposal is designed to consolidate ongoing development efforts and accelerate progress across the state.

Addressing lawmakers during the presentation, Governor Eno explained that the 2026 budget targets key elements of the ARISE Agenda, including strengthening food security, enhancing rural development, completing major ongoing projects, and initiating new critical interventions aimed at job creation.

According to him, the budget also prioritizes internal security, improved access and quality in education, economic diversification, support for MSMEs, and increased investments in human capital and social inclusion.

Unveiling the fiscal framework, the governor proposed a 75% capital expenditure and 25% recurrent expenditure ratio, which he said is crucial for sustaining growth. He announced that ₦387.5 billion has been earmarked for roads and major infrastructure, while substantial allocations have been provided for education, health, small businesses, and strategic initiatives across the three senatorial districts. The revenue projection for 2026 stands at ₦1.146 trillion.
