The Governing Council of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale (FUMHSK), led by Chairman Dr. Ahmadu Barau Banye Salisu, visited both the temporary and permanent sites of the institution in a landmark visit yesterday, marking a significant step towards the university’s takeoff.
The council’s first stop was the palace of Oduosa Utagba Ogbe, where they were warmly welcomed by the palace chiefs and treated to traditional Ukwuani hospitality. Dr. Salisu, in his address, emphasized the importance of the visit following their inauguration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He revealed that the council’s goal is to assess the current state of the university’s sites and lay down a clear plan for its development and operational readiness.

He further urged the Ukwuani community to protect and support the university, adding that he would leverage his connections to secure more facilities for the school.
Prof. Abel Onunu, Vice Chancellor of FUMHSK, echoed Dr. Salisu’s optimism, confirming that the bureaucratic hurdles had been cleared and that the university was fully prepared for its launch.
During the site inspection, Dr. Salisu praised the local communities for their generous land donations and the rehabilitation of existing structures at the temporary site.
