Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, has rejected the claims made by activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, who accused him of running a torture facility and mismanaging funds intended for the reintegration of Boko Haram members.
In a series of posts on social media, Sowore alleged that Gov. Zulum operates a detention center in Maiduguri called “The Crack FC,” where protesters from the #EndBadGovernance movement were reportedly held for over a year.
He also accused the governor of imprisoning minors while allocating significant funds to individuals labeled as Boko Haram “repentees.”
In response on Saturday, Gov. Zulum’s Senior Technical Assistant for Print and Digital Communications, Abdulrahman Bundi, labeled these allegations as unfounded and misleading.
“These are purely Sowore’s fabrications. There is no such facility in existence. The #EndBadGovernance protest was not even aimed at the state government; it was directed at the federal government,” Bundi stated.

Regarding the alleged billions spent on Boko Haram fighters, Bundi clarified that the deradicalisation, rehabilitation, and reintegration program is a collaborative effort that primarily focuses on victims of the insurgency rather than just former combatants.
“The DRR aims to restore peace and rehabilitate those who were abducted, displaced, or forcibly involved with Boko Haram.
“It prioritizes the victims over the perpetrators,” he explained, encouraging Nigerians to refer to the publicly accessible reintegration policy document for further understanding.
