Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving N80 billion for the reconstruction and upgrade of Alau Dam, which collapsed in September 2024.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Gov. Zulum described the approval as a significant act of leadership and good governance.
“I am most gladdened by this uncommon expression of leadership by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving this monumental amount to reconstruct and upgrade the dam,” Gov. Zulum said.
The governor emphasized that the reconstruction will benefit millions of farmers, fishermen, and businesses around the dam, as well as support Borno State’s efforts to revive agriculture following years of insurgency.

He also expressed confidence that the project would prevent future flooding and further hardship for residents already affected by conflict.
Gov. Zulum recalled President Tinubu’s personal visit to Maiduguri, after the disaster and his administration’s relief efforts, including the provision of food and non-food items to victims.
He extended his gratitude on behalf of Borno State, commending the president for ensuring equitable distribution of critical projects across the country.
The governor also reaffirmed the state’s support for Tinubu’s policies aimed at national development and prosperity.
