“The N1.4 billion approval includes the dualization of the road from Gomari Junction to the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, extending to the hajj operational unit at the airport. Additional road and drainage projects will also be undertaken across communities in all three senatorial districts this fiscal year,” Gubio said.

He highlighted that the state government has completed several road and drainage projects, including asphalt paving of roads damaged by floods that severely impacted critical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Prof. Baba Gana, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving universal health coverage.

He noted that 15 percent of the state’s budget has been allocated to the health sector, enabling the training of more medical personnel and the reconstruction of health facilities.

“The state has lost 45 percent of its health institutions due to insurgency, necessitating the rebuilding and equipping of hospitals and clinics for proper diagnosis and treatment. This year, we will complete the two colleges of nursing in Monguno and Gwoza to address the shortage of frontline health workers,” Gana stated.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, revealed that the state government is making efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children from the current 700, 000 to 200, 000 by 2027.
