Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has transmitted the names of two nominees to the state House of Assembly for confirmation as commissioners, while also appointing a new solicitor general.
The nominees are Abdulkarim Kabir Maude (SAN) from Minjibir Local Government, and Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, an associate professor of allied mathematics.
According to a statement issued by the Director General, Government House, Sanusi Bature, Maude, 40, is scheduled for investiture as a SAN at the Supreme Court.
He is a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and holds an LLM in International Economic Law from the Maryam Abacha American University of Niger and a Master’s in Business Commercial Law from Bayero University, Kano.
He added that, Dr. Aliyu, 41, brings extensive academic credentials with a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Bayero University Kano, M.Sc. from Jordan University of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. from the Firat University, Turkey.
Currently, he is serving as the statistician-general/director general of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics since 2023. He has held academic positions at the Federal University, Dutse and the North West University, Kano.

The mathematics researcher, who benefited from the Kwankwasiyya foreign scholarship, completed his postdoctoral fellowships in China and Cyprus.
He also served as the financial secretary of the NNPP in Kano State.
In a separate appointment, Gov. Yusuf named Salisu Tahir as the new solicitor-general and permanent secretary, Ministry of Justice.
Tahir, formerly the director of public prosecution, is expected to assume duty on Monday.
Bature further quoted Gov. Yusuf to have emphasized his administration’s commitment to competence, professionalism, and integrity in public service through these strategic appointments.
