Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving N47 billion for the completion of the long-abandoned Wuju-Wuju Road project in Kano State.
A statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, said the governor made the commendation while speaking at the 35th meeting of the Kano State Executive Council.
Gov. Yusuf described the approval as a major boost to infrastructure development in the state, noting that the Wuju-Wuju Road is a strategic multi-purpose project with significant economic and social importance to residents.
He recalled that the road was initiated in 2013 during the administration of former Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, but was stalled and left uncompleted during the eight-year tenure of the immediate past administration.
The governor stated that his administration, after reviewing the project, sought the intervention of the federal government to ensure its completion.
He said the request received swift consideration, leading to the approval of N47 billion by the Federal Executive Council.
Gov. Yusuf described Tinubu’s decision as a demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs in Kano State.
He also acknowledged the role of the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations, Rep. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, whom he credited with sustained advocacy and follow-up that ensured the project received federal approval.

He urged other federal lawmakers from the state to emulate such dedication and patriotism irrespective of political differences.
Yusuf further noted that Hon. Bichi had facilitated other key projects for Kano, including the International Conference Centre along Maiduguri Road and a proposed international-standard stadium in Bichi.
The governor appealed to President Tinubu to approve additional mega projects for Kano, assuring that his administration remains committed to partnering with the Federal Government to fast-track sustainable development and deliver lasting infrastructure for the people of the state.
