Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has called on political appointees and senior government officials to make integrity the hallmark of their service, stressing that honesty and accountability remain critical to good governance.
The governor gave the charge at a three-day retreat themed “Anti-Corruption, Financial Fraud, Transformational Leadership, and Ethical Values in the Workplace” jointly organized by ANHI Consultants International and the Kano State government in Kaduna.
In a statement by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature, Gov. Yusuf urged participants to ensure that every action, decision, and policy reflects transparency, honesty, and accountability.
He said building a legacy of integrity would guarantee a prosperous future for generations.
Warning against corruption, the governor noted that it disproportionately affects the poor and vulnerable, adding that the people of Kano are increasingly impatient with unfulfilled promises.
“They demand action and results. They want a government that works for them, not one that enriches a few. That was why they voted for us in 2023, and we must not disappoint them,” he said.

He encouraged appointees to remain courageous and committed to doing the right thing despite challenges.
The retreat featured contributions from resource persons, including Dr. Aminu Gusau, who described the governor’s team as capable of leading Kano to the “promised land.”
Chief of Staff to the governor, Dr. Sulaiman Sani, and Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farooq , also commended Gov. Yusuf’s leadership, noting that his administration had achieved in two years what some predecessors could not in eight.
