Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has welcomed the emergency of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his endorsement at the just concluded National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja.
In a statement issued by his Director General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Yahaya described Proffessor Yilwatda as a seasoned politician and technocrat whose blend of intellectual depth, vibrancy, and leadership acumen will reposition the APC for greater unity, credibility, and purpose.
“Prof. Yilwatda is a thoroughbred progressive with a clear understanding of the party’s vision and the demands of modern governance. His emergence marks a new chapter for the APC—one defined by inclusivity, reform, and responsiveness to the aspirations of Nigerians,” the governor said.

Governor Yahaya praised the new party chairman’s strong academic background, bureaucratic experience, and political maturity, expressing confidence that these attributes will inject fresh energy into the party’s national leadership and help consolidate its position as Nigeria’s dominant political force.
He noted that Prof. Yilwatda’s appointment aligns with the APC’s broader commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and sustaining democratic gains across the country.
“As we move forward, I urge all party members and stakeholders to close ranks and support the new leadership to ensure party discipline, internal cohesion, and continued electoral success,” Governor Yahaya added.
Prof. Yilwatda, a former university don and governorship candidate, is widely regarded as a reform-minded figure within the APC, with expectations high for a new phase of strategic leadership within the party.
