Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya has promised that his administration will revamp the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the state by creating a conducive environment for corps members.

Disclosing this during a visit by the state NYSC Coordinator Mrs. Chinwe Nwaehuku, the governor acknowledged the need for improvements at the temporary orientation camp in Amada, and pledged to enhance its facilities.

Gov. Yahaya also emphasized the efforts being made to complete a permanent orientation camp, which he identified as a key project for his administration.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring that corps members have a comfortable experience during their service year.

“We want to make sure that our corps members are comfortable, and supported during their service year,” he stated, emphasizing his government’s dedication to their welfare.

Additionally, the governor revealed plans for collaboration with the NYSC on a skill acquisition programme, aimed at empowering rural women and widows by enhancing their economic opportunities available to them.

Responding, Mrs. Nwaehuku expressed gratitude for the governor’s consistent support, and stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the state government and the NYSC to maximize the contributions of corps members to Gombe State’s development.

She also presented various NYSC publications to the governor, emphasizing the administration’s focus on youth empowerment, and infrastructure development to strengthen Gombe’s reputation as a corps-friendly state.
