Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an environment that promotes youth development, particularly through quality education.
The governor made this known during the 25th anniversary and annual speech and prize giving day of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Bajoga.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Aishatu Maigari, the governor praised the school’s contribution to bridging the educational gap and aligning with the state’s broader vision of a brighter future.
“Your success is not only a reflection of your individual efforts but also a testament to the dedication of your teachers and the support of your family,” Gov. Yahaya said, urging the students to embrace hard work and remain committed to their educational pursuits.
Delivering a goodwill message, the pioneer Principal of the college and former Minister of Education, Dr. Aishatu Dukku, emphasized the importance of girl-child education as a cornerstone for national development.
She commended the school’s management and encouraged the students to focus on academic excellence.

Chairman of the occasion and Commissioner for Justice, Zubairu Umar, applauded the school’s significant impact on education in the state over the past 25 years.
He also called on staff and administrators to sustain the college’s standard of academic excellence.
The Principal of the college, Hajiya Hafsat Aliyu, expressed gratitude to the host community and philanthropists for their continued support in enhancing the institution’s programs and facilities.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Amina Abdul, Project Coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), who delivered a keynote address on the importance of educating the girl-child, highlighted AGILE’s mission to promote retention and completion of secondary education among adolescent girls.
