Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, of Gombe State, has approved the appointment of board members for the newly established Gombe State Disability Commission.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, announced the appointments, stating that this follows the earlier approval and announcement of the chairman’s appointment by the governor on December 24, 2024.
The newly constituted board includes representatives from the three senatorial districts of the state; Gombe North, Muhammad Abubakar and Fatima Yakubu; Gombe Central, Bala Kwali, Yusuf Yahaya; and Gombe South, Rebecca Hassan and Alheri Nuhu
Additionally, the board, according to the governor, will include the permanent secretaries of the ministries of justice, women affairs, and youth development.

In a move to promote gender inclusivity, three female representatives have also been appointed. They are Rabi Bello (Gombe South), Halima Isah (Gombe Central), and Hindatu Nura (Gombe North).
Gov. Muhammadu Yahaya emphasized that the establishment of the board is part of his administration’s commitment to enhancing inclusivity in public service.
He expects the newly appointed board members to work towards making the commission more effective, in addressing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in the state.
