Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has laid out a comprehensive roadmap for development in the new quarter, highlighting key areas his administration will focus on to drive growth across the state. In a recent update shared via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the governor detailed major resolutions reached during the latest State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting.
According to him, these resolutions are strategic moves to boost infrastructure, improve workplace safety, regulate land use, and enhance food security in line with his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
One of the major highlights was the restructuring of Asset Management & Maintenance in the state. The EXCO resolved that the Office of the Secretary to the State Government will now oversee the Akwa Ibom State Infrastructure and Asset Management and Maintenance Agency, ensuring efficient documentation, management, and upkeep of government assets.
In a groundbreaking move for workplace safety, the EXCO approved the creation of the Department of Occupational Safety in the State Public Service. This department, to be headed by a Permanent Secretary under the Office of the Head of Civil Service, will enforce global best practices to protect workers and improve safety standards across government offices.

For land use regulation, the EXCO addressed growing concerns from oil-bearing communities, ruling that Sterling Petrochemicals and Fertilizer Limited must restrict its operations to the 1,000 hectares allocated to it while respecting the 700-hectare buffer zone. The Ministry of Lands has been directed to enforce compliance, preventing encroachment and possible land disputes.
On food security, the EXCO launched the Akwa Ibom State Agriculture and Food Security Committee, chaired by Prof. Okon Ansa, to develop data-driven strategies that will enhance food production and processing. This initiative aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s vision for agricultural sustainability and food sufficiency in the state.
The governor also revealed that the EXCO reviewed presentations from various ministries on their ongoing projects and future strategies, ensuring enhanced service delivery across all sectors.
“Our administration remains committed to accountability, infrastructure development, food security, and the overall well-being of Akwa Ibomites,” Governor Umo Eno affirmed.
With these bold initiatives, Akwa Ibom is set for a transformative quarter, reinforcing the governor’s commitment to sustainable development and a better future for all residents.
