Governor Charles Soludo has emerged as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
Gov. Soludo, who was the sole aspirant, secured the party’s ticket unopposed during the APGA primary held on Saturday, at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Announcing the results, the returning officer, Uche Nwegbo, declared that of the 3,260 total delegates, 3,175 were accredited and 3,172 votes were cast.
He said Gov. Soludo received 3,168 affirmative votes, with no dissenting votes and four invalid ballots.
“By the powers conferred on me, I hereby declare Gov. Chukwuma Soludo as the candidate of our party,” Nwegbo announced.
In his acceptance speech, the governor expressed gratitude for the party’s support and reaffirmed his commitment to development and good governance.
“Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra. I am humbled by this historic display of solidarity. I accept this nomination wholeheartedly,” he said.
Highlighting achievements under his administration, Gov. Soludo noted that the transformation across the state has been achieved without incurring any debt.

“We’re doing this without borrowing one naira. We’ve only just begun—Anambra has not seen anything yet,” he added.
The governor commended the peaceful conduct of the primary and thanked party members, support groups, and INEC observers for their roles in the process.
Gov. Soludo also confirmed that his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, will remain his running mate in the upcoming election.
“If it’s not broken, why mend it?” he said, emphasizing the strength of their partnership.
With confidence ahead of the November polls, Gov. Soludo boldly predicted a landslide victory.
“We will win all 21 local governments, the 326 wards, and maybe even all the polling units. We want to make a statement,” he declared.
