Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has rewarded the best graduating student of the Lagos State University (LASU), Nwosu Sybil, with N10 million.
Sybil, who achieved a first-class degree in biochemistry with an impressive CGPA of 4.93, was celebrated by the governor for her dedication and perseverance.
Gov. Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, at the university’s 28th convocation ceremony, praised Sybil’s achievements as a source of pride for the entire LASU community.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the youth, highlighting the importance of academic excellence alongside achievements in various fields such as entertainment and sports.
He also announced a partnership with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to facilitate access to student loans for those attending the state-owned institutions of higher learning.

The governor emphasised that education is essential for societal development, adding that “education is the backbone of our society, in addressing societal needs and fostering human development.”
He commended LASU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, for her leadership in fostering a strong commitment to academic excellence.
The ceremony also saw honorary doctorate degrees awarded to notable individuals, including former Deputy Governor Femi Pedro, NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), and Prof. Joseph Olagunju.
