In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on media and Publicity, Mr Linus Obogo, Governor Otu said Chief Obono-Obla, “remains one of Cross River’s brightest lights—an accomplished legal practitioner, consummate public servant, and ardent defender of truth and fairness”

According to him, Obono-Obla’s career is a glittering testament to how knowledge, conviction, and integrity can be harnessed in the service of humanity.

He noted that Chief Obono-Obla’s contributions as a former Presidential Special Assistant on Prosecution and Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property reflected his deep sense of duty and moral uprightness.

“He brought to national service the same boldness, clarity, and unwavering sense of justice that have defined his entire professional life,” Otu said.

The Governor lauded the celebrant’s enduring passion for human rights advocacy, noting that his work continues to inspire a generation of young Nigerians to embrace the virtues of truth, accountability, and civic courage.

“Chief Obono-Obla has shown that the pursuit of justice is not an occasional act but a lifelong commitment,” he added.

“His reverence for tradition and his intellectual strength form a rare blend that enriches our state’s identity.

“Chief Obono-Obla’s voice, resolute and principled, has become a moral compass in our collective journey towards transparency and equity”

“He remains a shining example of what it means to live with purpose, to speak with truth, and to serve with honour.”

While wishing him a joyous birthday celebration, Governor Otu prayed for greater strength, health, and wisdom for the renowned lawyer and public figure.

“As you mark another year of impactful living, may your path continue to illuminate the ideals of justice, courage, and love for humanity,” the Governor saluted.
