Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has indefinitely suspended all revenue collection activities across the state. The Governor’s order, which applies particularly to motor parks and other public revenue sources, is to take immediate effect.
Governor Okpebholo also directed the State Commissioner of Police to enforce this order by arresting anyone who disregards the suspension and continues to collect revenues on behalf of the Edo State Government.
According to the Governor, this drastic step is essential to restore order and transparency. “The collection of revenues in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the State Government will be arrested,” Governor Okpebholo announced. He further warned that the crackdown would be thorough, as law enforcement has been empowered to take immediate action against violators.

This revenue collection halt comes amid rising concerns and complaints about alleged mismanagement and exploitation within the revenue collection system. The Governor expressed his intent to address these issues fully and assured that a comprehensive review would follow.
“The Commissioner of Police is hereby ordered to arrest anyone who flouts this order and collects any kind of revenues on behalf of the State Government,” the Governor stated firmly, highlighting the severity of the directive.
Gov. Okpebholo plans to assess the situation closely, promising to outline a revised, transparent approach for revenue collection that will safeguard the interests of Edo citizens. Until further notice, all revenue collection in the state remains on hold, and unauthorized collection efforts will be met with strict legal action.
