Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and quality governance by launching a hotline for the public to report sub-standard government projects.
He made this announcement on Wednesday, during the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Ighoyota Amori as his chief adviser at the Government House, Asaba.
Addressing the gathering of top political figures, government officials, and party faithful, Gov. Oborevwori maintained that all appointees must actively monitor projects in their localities and ensure contractors adhere to the highest standards.
He stated that the hotline will allow citizens to report poorly executed government projects, enabling his administration to take swift corrective action.
“We are spending public funds to develop Delta State, and we must ensure we get full value for every naira spent. From today, any sub-standard project must be reported. If you see poor work in your area, take a video, send it in, and we will take immediate action. We will not tolerate mediocrity,” the governor declared.
Gov. Oborevwori noted that his administration’s agenda that focuses on transparency, accountability, and community engagement, requires political appointees to act as the eyes and ears of the state government.
He warned that poor performance and negligence would not be overlooked, urging all political leaders to prioritize the needs of the people over personal interests.
“Governance is not about sitting in Asaba; it is about connecting with the people. Go back to your wards, interact with your communities, and ensure they feel the impact of government. If we work together, Delta State will be the envy of others in Nigeria,” he stressed.

The governor also charged Chief Amori with the responsibility of advising his administration with wisdom and integrity, describing him as a tested and trusted political leader whose experience will be instrumental in policy formulation and execution.
“Chief Amori is not new to leadership. He has served in various capacities, both at the state and national levels, and I trust him to provide sound counsel. His advice must align with our commitment to good governance and service to the people,” Gov. Oborevwori said.
Chief Ighoyota Amori expressed deep gratitude for the honour of being appointed as chief adviser to the governor, describing it as another milestone in his long political career.
He assured the governor that he will always put the state first and offer only well-researched and strategic advice.
“Your Excellency, I understand the weight of this responsibility. From today, people will see you in me, and I will not let you down. I will consult widely, engage with stakeholders, and ensure that my advice helps to move Delta State forward,” Amori said.
