Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government of Delta State, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, has credited the state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for reviving his political career.
Speaking at his thanksgiving reception in his country home in Uduere, on Sunday, Egbo expressed gratitude to the governor for his support, while acknowledging the role he played in his political resurgence.
“When I had really tough times in my political career, he was able to revive it, first by appointing me as special adviser, then finding me worthy to be chairman of this council. I appreciate him, I’m grateful to him, and I will be loyal to him,” Egbo stated.
The council chairman further declared his support for Gov. Oborevwori’s second-term bid, expressing confidence in the governor’s leadership, and predicting a smooth victory in 2027.
“It is our prayers and belief that 2027 will be a smooth victory for him because it is Sheriff till 2031. I’m sure he has worked, he has shown leadership for his second tenure, and it will be well guaranteed.
“We do hope that Deltans will come out en masse to support him when the time comes,” he added.
Egbo attributed his achievements to divine grace, acknowledging that his rise in politics was not due to personal excellence but for God’s favour.
“If I were in a church, I would say that everything I have achieved is by God’s divine grace. I am not the eldest in my family, not the most brilliant person, nor the best politician, I have my own weaknesses.
“But, despite all these weaknesses, God found me worthy to be here. So, it is not because of my perfection, but because of God’s perfect grace. When you find favour in God, you must acknowledge it and remain grateful,” he remarked.
As part of his thanksgiving, Egbo also dedicated a chapel of worship at his residence, explaining its significance in seeking divine guidance.
On his plans for the local government, Egbo assured residents of tangible development projects under the 2025 budget, which aligns with the first phase of the MORE agenda.
“Our people are going to see the dividends of democracy. We just passed the 2025 budget of meaningful development into law, which is the first arm of the MORE Agenda.

“I can assure you that in the next one or two weeks, we are going to lay the foundation for various projects in the seven kingdoms,” he announced.
Among the proposed projects are the construction of courts, police stations, and shops to enhance security and economic growth in the local government.
“When I came on board, it was difficult to pass through the Agbarho Road corridor because of daily kidnappings. It was also difficult to pass through Evwreni.
“But all those behind these crimes have been arrested. This Christmas, we slept very well, but we need to build on our achievements,” he stated.
Additionally, he highlighted efforts in environmental improvement and women empowerment, noting that maintaining a clean and healthy environment is a priority.
