Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has restated his administration’s commitment to student welfare and education development, promising continued support for student communities.
He made the assurance on Tuesday, when the executive and leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), led by the Global President of NANS, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Asaba.
Speaking during the meeting, Gov. Oborevwori acknowledged the challenges faced by students, assuring them that his administration is working to ensure institutions receive the necessary support to enable students complete their studies with minimal financial burden.
Addressing concerns about study leave policies affecting government employees, he noted that some workers had been removed from the payroll, while furthering their education.
The governor assured that his administration is reviewing the matter to ensure fairness and transparency.
“We encourage our employees to advance their education, but it must align with government policies. We will continue to address these concerns to ensure fairness and proper implementation of policies,” he said.
Gov. Oborevwori also reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services for students and state employees, recognizing the importance of health and well-being in academic and professional success.

In a remarkable gesture, the governor also announced the gift of a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle to, Comrade Emonefe, in recognition of his leadership and dedication to student affairs.
The gift underscores the governor’s support for student leadership and his administration’s commitment to fostering positive engagement with student bodies.
NANS Global President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, expressed gratitude to Gov. Oborevwori for his generosity and unwavering support for Nigerian students.
