Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved a new automatic scholarship scheme for the best graduating students in the state’s four public universities, marking another major step toward promoting academic excellence and nurturing future leaders.

This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Godfrey Enita, who said the initiative reflects the governor’s strong resolve to invest in the intellectual growth of young Deltans in line with the human capital pillar of his administration.

He revealed that the scheme covers the overall best graduating student for each academic session from the Delta State University, Abraka, Southern Delta University, Ozoro, University of Delta, Agbor, and Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.

Enita stated that each beneficiary will receive comprehensive funding to pursue postgraduate studies, up to the Ph.D. level, at approved Nigerian universities, after meeting all requisite scholarship verification and documentation requirements.

He emphasized that the programme is designed to equip exceptional graduates with advanced skills and knowledge that would enhance their competitiveness and future contributions to the state’s development.

“The board remains fully committed to expanding opportunities that reward hard work and encourage academic excellence,” he added.

The introduction of the scholarship scheme is expected to raise the bar of academic aspiration across Delta State’s tertiary institutions and further strengthen the state’s reputation as a champion of educational growth in Nigeria.
