The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, on Monday announced the suspension from office of 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries for failure to attend an important government function.
The suspension of the affected officials is for one month without pay.
Gov. Nwifuru’s suspension order is contained in a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki.
The suspension takes immediate effect.
The commissioners are Stanley Mbam, Prof. Leonard Uguru, Dr. Mathew Nwobashi, Prof. Nwogo Obasi, Victor Chukwu, Jude Okpor, Ikeuwa Omebe, Chidi Onyia, Chief Oguzo – Offia Nwali, Dr. Ben. Odo, and Dr. Donatus Ilang.
Others are Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, Dr. Moses Ikenna, Chief Richard Idike, Mrs. Felicia Nwankpuma, Chinedu Nkah, Ogbonna Abara, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iyioku, Francis Ori, Tochukwu Okorie, Valentine Uzo, Chief Sunday Inyima, Ogbonnaya Okorie, Chief Elechi Elechi, and Stanley Ogbuewu.
The senior special assistants caught in the suspension web include Bassey Chukwu, Mrs. Rose Ofoke, Mr. Kerian Ofoke, Anthony Nwegede, Onu Nwonye, Lilian Nwachkwu, Mr. Fred Nwogbaga, and Paul Nwogha.
Also affected are Pius Nwoga, Ali Ikechukwu, Nwiboko Chukwuma, Mrs. Esther Nwogha, Caleb Onwe, and Chinedu Awo.

The special assistants affected by the governor’s hammer are Mr. Mbam Emmanuel, Tobias Ogbonna, Easy Uzo, Obinna Enyim, Chima Okoro, Nwali Amechi, Dr. Sabinus Nwibo, Okorie Jideofor, Sunday Ogenyi, Stanley Kamani, Ikechukwu Jideofor, and Emeka Onwe
Others include David Aja, Frank Uka, John Nwangbo, Ogbonna Nwuruku, Ifeanyi Ujebe, Chima Ogbuagu, Kizito Nwenyi, Uwa Ifeanyi, Elechi Solomon, Ibina Ogbonna, Mbam Ifeanyi, and Nwigum Christian
The suspended permanent secretaries are Lawrence Ezeogo, Isioma Arunne-Inyang, Mrs. Rose Ibe, Mrs. Ogechi Nwobasi, Mrs. Anwu Theresa, Lynda Alo, Mr. Monday Nkwuda, Mrs. Mary Otozi, Mrs. Martina Obiya, Mrs. Ogechi Anaso-Kalu, Emmanuel Onwe, and Mr. Henry Nworie.
Also affected are Mrs. Joy Mbam, Mrs. Henrietta Oruh, Peter Ede, Gabriel Odo, Mrs. Mfon Williamson, Ms. Alusi Felicia, Mrs. Betty Uzoma, Chukwuma Ojeogu, Ikechukwu Alobu, and Mr. Fidelis Nwankwo.
