Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, has celebrated Professor Ifeanyichukwu Odoh’s appointment as the new Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Anambra State, marking a historic moment for the university.
Professor Odoh, who hails from Ezza North Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, was appointed as the 7th Vice Chancellor of UNIZIK following a rigorous selection process by the Governing Board. His appointment is seen as a testament to his academic achievements, integrity, and dedication to higher education.
In an official statement on his social media, Governor Nwifuru expressed pride in Professor Odoh’s accomplishment, calling it a “clear demonstration that hard work, integrity, and excellence are recognized and rewarded.” He added, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Professor Ifeanyichukwu Odoh, a distinguished son of our state, on his well-deserved appointment. This achievement is a source of immense pride for us all.”

Interestingly, Professor Odoh had contested the Ebonyi State governorship under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2023 general elections, where he emerged in third place against the current governor, Rt. Hon. Nwifuru, who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC).
