Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to democratic governance, describing June 12 as a solemn reminder of the courage and resilience of the Nigerian people in asserting their sovereign will.
In his Democracy Day message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor and made available to newsmen, Gov. Nwifuru hailed June 12 as a “testament to the courage of the Nigerian electorate” and a tribute to the heroes and heroines who made sacrifices for a just and equitable Nigeria.
He commended President Bola Tinubu, for what he described as steadfast leadership and an unshaken commitment to democratic consolidation through the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
He laued the president’s policy reforms, including fuel subsidy removal as bold steps reflecting the true spirit of federalism and national development.
“The president has continued to demonstrate matchless commitment to the deepening of good governance and democratic ideals.
“His reforms are designed to promote transparency, uphold the rule of law, and empower institutions,” he said.
Reflecting on the state’s trajectory, Gov. Nwifuru stated that his administration draws inspiration from national leadership and remains anchored on the ‘People’s Charter of Needs Agenda’.

He emphasized that this homegrown framework is rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and equity.
“Our policies are not only tailored to meet immediate needs but to secure a sustainable future for the next generation,” the governor noted, citing ongoing advancements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
Underscoring the essence of democracy beyond the ballot box, Gov. Nwifuru said: “Democracy is about governance that listens, serves, and uplifts. It is about building lasting institutions and strengthening the bond between government and the governed.”
He called on citizens of Ebonyi State to remain united, peaceful, and committed to the shared goal of a more prosperous state, urging collective efforts in consolidating democratic gains.
Gov. Nwifuru also expressed deep appreciation to religious leaders, lawmakers, judicial officers, elders, civil society groups, and other stakeholders for their support in building an enduring democratic culture in the state.
“On this Democracy Day, I call on all Ebonyians at home and abroad to support our efforts in building a greater Ebonyi State,” he added.
