Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has condoled the families of vigilantes killed in an ambush by suspected bandits in Mansur village, Alkaleri Local Government Area, expressing shock over the incident.
The vigilantes, identified as professional hunters, were on a routine patrol along the Duguri–Mansur–Dajin Mada Forest corridor when they were attacked.
The governor described the incident as a “heinous and senseless act of violence,” calling it a painful reminder of the persistent threat posed by criminal elements in the region.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Gov. Mohammed extended condolences to the families of the victims, the Alkaleri community, and the entire state.

He praised the fallen vigilantes as heroes who died in the line of duty while working to protect their communities.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to combating insecurity, the governor urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
He also vowed that those behind the attack would be brought to justice.
“No effort will be spared in ensuring that Bauchi remains a safe and peaceful state for all,” the governor assured.
