Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has accused President Bola Tinubu of distributing N500 billion in intervention funds only to states governed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview with Radio DW Hausa, Gov. Lawal stated that since taking office in 2023, Zamfara State has not received any federal intervention funds.
He asserted that he has credible information indicating that some states have received over N500 billion from the federal government, while Zamfara has not received any financial assistance.
He suggested that this disparity may be due to his affiliation with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“The federal government has never allocated any intervention funds to Zamfara State, unlike other states. I believe this is because I am not part of their party,” Lawal remarked.
As the only North West governor not affiliated with the APC, he noted that despite the alleged exclusion, his administration continues to implement projects throughout the state.
Gov. Lawal explained that since he became governor, Zamfara has depended solely on its statutory allocations and has not received any additional federal aid.

He also mentioned that the state has not incurred any new debts during his tenure.
“I have never taken out a loan to manage the state. Each month, N1.2 billion is deducted from our allocation before it reaches us,” he said, adding that these deductions are for debts from the previous administration.
Regarding speculation about his defection, Gov. Lawal dismissed rumours that he might leave the PDP despite facing internal challenges within the party.
He emphasized that power is divinely ordained and that he cannot abandon his party due to its difficulties.
He stated that any decision to leave the PDP would involve discussions with his supporters, but he maintained that if the party resolves its issues, there would be no reason to seek alternatives.
